In this online course, you’ll discover the new Avid Media Composer 2024 interface. You’ll delve deeper into the major new features this version offers.

The new Avid Media Composer makes editing faster and more efficient, simplifies workflows, and improves workflows. We have a new project window from which to create and select projects more quickly and easily. We can navigate through a sequence; a sequence map has been created in the timeline, and different colors have been assigned.

Avid has also improved workflow speed through the Universal Media Engine (UME), which enables greater performance when working with media directly from the camera.

It improves work capacity in ACES and provides output coverage for 15 new color spaces. They’ve also incorporated new presets for creating social media content with 1:1 or 9×16 aspect ratios, among others. Avid 2024 is now compatible with the mac OS Sequoia operating system. And for those working on Windows, you’ll be able to work natively with ProRes for playback, export, and more in OP-Atom, MXF OP1a, and MOV formats.

Avid Certified User

Avid.university offers a series of Media Composer certifications, validating user skills from basic knowledge to expert level. The first of these certifications is the Avid Certified User for Media Composer, which provides a credential recognized by the audiovisual industry.

To earn the Avid Certified User title, you must take two core courses, Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) and Media Composer Fundamentals II (MC110); you must also pass two online exams.

Becoming an Avid Certified User for Media Composer verifies that you have a fundamental understanding of the software and the ability to use Media Composer, along with a firm grasp of the basic skills, workflows, and concepts of nonlinear editing in the Avid Media Composer system.

Although Avid does not certify an editor’s creative skills, this certification provides technical and operational proficiency. Upon completion of this certification, you will have the basics to work as post-production assistants, editing assistants, or video editors.

Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) is the first step toward achieving confidence, creativity, and efficiency with Avid Media Composer. It’s the nonlinear film and video editing application used in most feature films and television productions. Paired with the second course in the series, Media Composer Fundamentals II (MC110), this course provides the foundational training needed to earn the Avid Certified User | Media Composer credential. Avid Certified Professional

To work in the evolving world of post-production, an understanding of the advanced tools within Media Composer and the workflows involved in creating professional programs is essential. Achieving the Avid Certified Professional in Media Composer certification demonstrates the ability to use a wide range of advanced tools, including multi-camera, script-based editing, mixing and sound design, motion tracking and stabilization, keys, mattes, and paint.

The Avid Certified Professional in Media Composer certification is the next level of Media Composer certification, building on the skills and abilities validated by becoming an Avid Certified User for Media Composer. Achieving the Avid Certified Professional in Media Composer certification demonstrates a higher level of proficiency in applying more advanced techniques and carefully designed workflows.

To earn the Avid Certified Professional in Media Composer designation, you must first become an Avid Certified User for Media Composer. Afterwards, two additional courses must be completed: Media Composer Professional Editing I (MC201) and Media Composer Professional Editing II (MC210). Finally, it is necessary to pass the online certification exam.

Although Avid does not certify a professional’s creative skills, the technical and operational skills developed through this certification program are designed to improve the technique and use of post-production tools. These courses are especially useful for post-production assistants, editing assistants, and video editors.

Focusing primarily on short-form workflows, Media Composer Professional Editing I (MC201) will take you to a new level of editing and provide you with the tips, tricks, and in-depth knowledge to distinguish yourself as a true editing professional.
